The Era of Liquid Lipsticks

Recently it's been all about Liquid lipsticks and they are becoming more and more popular by the day. Liquid lipsticks are one of my favorite things ever at the moment, so I thought I might ramble a bit about the ones I’ve tried, loved, and hated.

Liquid lipsticks are a clever combination of gloss-like application, lipstick appearance, and long lasting results. It contains the pigment of a lipstick, and the glide and sheen of a gloss. Liquid lipsticks leave behind that candy apple-like coating — minus the stick — on your lips (which I love). You only need one coat, meaning you can achieve the opaque pigment you want with one swipe. Another plus is that it's meant to stay on for hours and hours, so ladies be careful it can be drying if you’re not used to matte lipsticks. But if you keep your lips well hydrated, exfoliated, and protect them with a moisturizing primer before application, it can make such a huge difference.

So lets start with my top favorite Liquid Lipstick:

 1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in "Pure Hollywood and Vintage": They are known for their brow products, which are also my favorite and have been rapidly expanding their line of cosmetics, but the liquid lipsticks are what got me most excited. "Pure Hollywood" is a gorgeous, light-medium peach with a hint of pink and an ultra matte finish. “Vintage” is also very pretty and described as a “royal purple.” It’s a medium-dark, eggplant purple with warm pink undertones and a matte finish.

2. Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick in "Outlaw": WOW...Leave it to Kat Von D to have the perfect, matte red. Want something a little cooler or warmer toned? They have multiple shades of red, so you’ll have a lot to choose from and they are all beautiful.
This is not "Outlaw" I think its Berlin/

3. Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in "Melted Candy": This gorgeous “bright fuchsia pink.” It’s a brightened, medium fuchsia pink with very subtle blue undertone. It has a strong pigmentation and looks gorgeous on I think every skin tone.  If you’re looking for something not as drying as your usual liquid lipsticks, this is the formula for you! It also comes in a completely different type of applicator – it’s a little tube you squeeze to bring the product to the applicator tip.

4. Stila Stay-All-Day Liquid Lipstick in “Patina”: This dusty rose is my perfect version of a more neutral lip. It’s pigmented enough to stand on its own, but pairs well with more dramatic, smokey eyes.

5. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in "San Paulo":  This  liquid lipstick is a bargain, at $5.99. I haven’t had the same luck with all of NYX shades, but San Paulo goes on evenly, is highly pigmented, and has a creamy consistency and finish. It’s a beautiful shade of rose.

Some time this June Colourpop launch their ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 oz.) with 25 shades ranging from light beige to chocolate brown. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to try them, but its #colourpop, which you all know I rave about so I am sure they did a good job.

Since I talked about my favorites, I need to tell you about my least favorite - the Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipsticks. I felt like it was too drying, no pigmentation, and did not stay on. Let me know if you had a different experience? which color did you use?

Let me know what are your thoughts about Liquid Lipsticks... Do you prefer them over normal lipsticks?

xoxo,

Mayra
