COLOURPOP Super Shock Eye Shadow Review

14:00Mayra N.

There is nothing more fun than trying out a completely new makeup line, and I am completely in LOVE with this new company… COLOURPOP!!! The company is so sassy (even the name is cute) and I mean makeup is supposed to be fun, so why not incorporate that into the business?? I purchased six shades – mainly so that I would have a range of shadows to try but also to take advantage of the free shipping.  The shades I chose were (Top to Bottom – Left to Right) Partridge, So Quiche, Fantasy, Drift, Animal and I Heart This.

Right off the bat I was impressed with the care that was put into just the shipping packaging. The fully padded inside protects the fragile contents and even the box is logo'd up and SUPER CUTE!!! On top of that, I found a sweet handwritten thank you note addressed to me. If you’re familiar with ColourPop, then you’ll know that they actually do this for every package, which is such a nice personal touch.

The Super Shock shadow's come in .07 oz. white clear top individual screw top pots with a holographic logo on top and the eye shadow names imprinted on the bottom. Formula wise these are UNIQUE!! It has a spongy consistency that’s more cream than powder eyeshadow, but it isn’t as wet as a true cream eye shadow. When you touch it, it’s creamy like a mouse :P

They apply like a light-weight cream shadow and set to a powder finish. The best coverage is achieved with just a swipe of your finger or flat top brush, which is the recommended way to apply them. They did not crease on me, which is a +++!!! Also, because the formula is featherlight and locks down similar to other cream shadows, I could even do without a primer under them.

Animal is bright and cheerful coral/peach ton with a subtle flash of gold. It looks so much better in person, than pictures. I cannot wait for spring and summer to wear this!!

Drift is a dark and beautiful cranberry shade. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I swatched this one. I wasn’t expecting the base to be this gorgeous. Perfect for fall and winter.

OMG I’m in a Fantasy with this shadow…If you like pink/red/purple and glitter you need this shadow! It is so bright, cheerful, and perfect for ladies that like to have some fun with shadows.

Partridge is a brown with green undertone duo chrome color. If you’ve seen MAC Blue Brown pigment this is very similar, but for half the price and mess.

There are no words to describe So Quiche … I think this might be my FAV!!! It’s a soft olive with a highly reflective gold and pink violet glittery duo chrome metallic finish

I Heart This – WOW… I have been using I Heart This almost every day since I got it as a shade used all over my lid. This gorgeous shade is one I recommend and definitely in my Top 5 favorite eye shadows. It’s a beautiful taupe-silver shade that you just can’t keep your eyes off of.  If you like shimmer and glitter try this… #its5bucks

Overall, the color pay off on the ColourPop Shadows is phenomenal – though I’ll admit they are a bit tricky to work with at first. But once you learn, you’ll love it! There's something about these that remind me so much of MAC pigments, just with out the mess and half price (a mere $5 bucks)!!!!!!

For being a fairly new brand ColourPop has come out blazing, the shadows are beautifully packaged with a luxurious formula and gorgeous multi-tonal colors. Those like myself who are fans of sparkling illuminated eyes will really appreciate these. Will be ordering more of these for sure, and I look forward to the new ColourPop Super Shock Cheeks. Might also have to try there lippie stix’s!!!!

Have you tried any of the ColourPop lippies or eyeshadows? Which are your favorites?
